Just to prove that it is not always doom and gloom in the Guernsey Press when we visit. Although the headline on the front page is “Man seriously injured in early morning attack”…

FORWARDS, BACKWARDS AND FORWARDS AGAIN
As mentioned in my previous post, I have been busy preparing to head to Guernsey at the end of the month with David Angus and Sybella Perry to install Forwards, Backwards and Forwards again at the greenhouse
The exhibition will mark the third and final stage of the Firedive project. Last year saw a special outdoor screening of the film about La Vallette pools, at Guernsey Swimming Club’s 125th Anniversary Floodlit Gala. Three London based artists were invited to the island to make new artwork in response to the film screening, the gala, and the bathing pools.
For Forwards, backwards and forwards again, the artists David Angus, Sybella Perry and Theo Niderost present the work they made whilst on the island; including video, photography, and kinetic sculpture alongside Bowditch’s Firedive. The new work explores and celebrates the unique environment of Guernsey’s coast.
An all-in-one invite/gallery guide/poster has been produced for the show and over 700 of these have already been posted to Guernsey residents. The guide includes a fantastic essay about the project written by Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau and a fold out a keep poster of this image by Theo Niderost
Plenty of these will be available in Guernsey and if I have your address already you can expect one in the post over the coming fortnight but if you do want me to send you one please just email me@timbowditch.com with your address.
The exhibition runs until June 17th so if you are heading over for the Guernsey Photography Festival in May please do check it out.
Hind Land and beyond
So from time to time this blog goes a little quiet. If you don’t have anything nice to say and all that…
Firstly, and sadly, Roof Unit officially closed last week. This a great shame as it was really starting to take shape and there was fantastic enthusiasm for opportunities ahead.
However, pushing forward, there are still a lot of exciting things in the pipeline…
I am currently working on various projects from Japan with a new and improved website on the way as well as a couple of exciting publications and new collaborations on the horizon too.

This April will see the third and final stage of the Firedive project marked by an exhibition in Guernsey. Forwards, backwards and forwards again will be at the greenhouse from 5 April - 17 June, curated by myself with work from David Angus, Theo Niderost, Sybella Perry and an essay by Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau. Watch this space for much more information coming very soon and head here to watch the film if you haven’t already.

The first project to emerge in 2012 is a collaboration with ex Roof Unit desk mate Nick Rochowski. Nick and I began Hind Land just before the Christmas break and currently in the middle of the project we aim to continue shooting in March. The work is being put out under the Rokov Publishing umbrella with a selection of images and project statement available to view here.
And finally if you have not seen it already do check out Storm Mountain, my collaboration with Sybella Perry for the web-based series Exhibit by Tract
More news will make its way onto here as and when…
